“When you are kind to others, it not only changes you, it changes the world,” is the advice Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health Board Member Lindsay Smith wrote. “I love this reminder that being kind not only allows for internal change, but it can also make a small or significant impact on those around us.”

Smith, a native of Stark County, grew up in Canton and graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas High School. She earned her bachelor’s degree in marketing management from the University of Akron.

Smith, an associate vice president of large group benefits at The Schauer Group, has worked in the insurance industry for almost 17 years. She described how she became a C&A Board Member.

“Former board member Bryan Schauer recommended me to Joe French,” wrote Smith. “I already knew I wanted to be a part of this organization based on what I learned about the agency over the years and having two young children myself, Lincoln and Gavin. After meeting with Joe and a few members of his team, I realized how impactful C&A is to our community and was honored they selected me as a board member.”

Smith wrote she has been involved in many volunteer capacities over the years with Meals on Wheels, her church and other organizations. She is a graduate of Leadership Stark County’s 33rd Class. She is the board's assistant treasurer and serves on C&A’s Audit Committee.
