The Importance

Raising resilient children is vital to the overall impact of a community. Mental health includes our emotional, psychological and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel and act. It also helps determine how we handle challenges, relate to others and make healthy choices. Mental health is important at every stage of life, from childhood and adolescence through adulthood.

Unaddressed mental health challenges can have a negative influence on young adults which can lead to struggles with housing, poverty, employment and safety. For youth, this can increase the risk of substance use, experiencing violence and higher risk of (problem) sexual behaviors.

Statistics related to youth mental health:

  • 15% of young people ages 10-19 experience a mental health disorder
  • 20% of children in the United States ages 2-8 have a diagnosed mental, behavioral or developmental disorder
  • 42% of students feel persistently sad or hopeless and nearly one-third experience poor mental health
  • 22% of students seriously considered attempting suicide and 1 in 10 have attempted suicide

Your donation and support are vital to helping C&A continue to work with adolescents to provide the necessary tools to be resilient. Meeting youth where they are and working to provide coping strategies benefits the child, family and overall health of a community to feel confident to resolve problems when dealing with a difficult day or situation.

Please donate today! Walking side-by-side, we will build a community of resilient youth and a strong, sustainable community.

Your donation, regardless of size, is helping to make Stark County a healthier community. Please send your gift today to the address below or make an electronic donation via credit card or Pay Pal. Every donation is tax deductible as we are a 501(c3) organization.
