Dan Metzgar
Dan Metzgar, who grew up in Massillon and graduated from Massillon Washington High School, works at Shipley in Trauma Informed Day Treatment. He earned his bachelor’s degree in early childhood education from the University of Akron and his master’s degree in educational administration from Ashland University.
Metzgar said he enjoys watching the kids grow emotionally and educationally.
He said people would be surprised to learn he played and coached ice hockey for the University of Akron. He enjoys playing sports in his spare time.
His advice to anyone, particularly children and young adolescence, is pick a career you love.
Metzgar and his wife Christina have two kids - Colton and Owen. They are expecting a third child in mid-September. They also have a dog (Boomer) and a cat (Hazel).
